Explorer Scouts from across Essex gathered for the annual Essex Scouts County Marathon, a long-standing event that tests teamwork, navigation, and endurance in the great outdoors.

This year’s marathon took place in the South Downs, where teams of Explorers trekked across challenging terrain, completing checkpoints and tasks along the way. The event, which has been running for over 40 years, is designed to promote resilience, leadership, and outdoor adventure skills.

Our very own team of six from Vortex ESU performed brilliantly, securing 4th place in the Novice Explorers category — an especially impressive achievement given it was their first time competing.
