Sam Starckey, our assistant unit leader at Three Rivers ESU has been recognised for her amazing contributions to the Explorer section by being awarded the Chief Scouts Commendation for Good Service award. This award is awarded in respect of not less than 5 years good service, which stands out. It is regarded as the Chief Scout’s recognition of the very real contribution made to the Scouts by the individual concerned.
Sam Starckey has been a reliable and enthusiastic member of the Braintree Explorer leadership team providing excellent support for various unit leaders for over five years now. Sam has attended multiple international expeditions organised by Braintree Explorers and has always been someone who the explorers feel comfortable talking to and is very approachable. Sam is willing to help out in any way that she can and can always be relied upon to deliver. Sam has seen the merge of Fury ESU into 3 Rivers ESU and remained the constant for the explorers who made that transition. We managed to retain 100% of the explorers through this change which was helped massively by Sam’s willingness to encourage the merge
